Who we are
|
KCL Karate was one of the first martial arts clubs at King's College! As a club we aim to cater to all levels, whether you're a beginner who wants to try something new or whether you want to be part of our competition squad. Our members have gone on to compete nationally and internationally, winning a number of medals at senior level. Our member's success has meant winning a number of King's Full Colours, Uni. of London Full Purples, and best sports person of the year awards.
In this club, we are passionate about helping students of all abilities be more healthy, fit and further their development while at university. This means we are not just a karate club. We have a number of programs to make your student life more safe, useful and enjoyable: |
- Karate: We work with students to cover all aspects of traditional Karate and we put a great focus on the competitive side! We also work to emphasise applicable karate, whilst increasing health and confidence. Read more under our programs.
- Self defence: Throughout our sessions we regularly practice self defence techniques and throughout the year will have some special classes to teach you how to defend yourself in a real world situation. Read more under our programs.
- K-FIT: Getting fit and learning how to use your body, to great music. This is a high intensity fitness class to great motivational music. The first of its kind at Kings! Read more under our programs.
There are numerous weekly training sessions that all members are welcome to attend and a few specialist lessons with a more basic or more advanced emphasis.
We have regular socials and trips abroad to teach seminars, cultural exchange and to learn from world-renowned masters.
There are many training sessions throughout the year, even during the summer holidays.
